If you take your radio apart and put
it together as many times as I do, you'll quickly find the stock,
Phillips head fasteners used on the Apache Labs 100 and 200 series
radios are kind of soft and easily damaged, not to mention that one
slip of that Phillips screwdriver and you might have a big scratch down
the front or back of your radio.
These fasteners are easily upgraded to some hard as nails, easily
worked, stainless steel socket head cap screws. Even better, put some
nice stainless steel washers under those cap screws to keep the
exterior finish pristine.
Even if you aren't planning to take your radio apart, they still look
fabulous!

Also, on certain older radios, the handle attachment fasteners are just
a hair too long and bottom out in the threaded hole in the handle,
making the handles feel loose. By adding some washers between the front
panel and the handle it prevents the fasteners from bottoming and then
they can be properly tightened.
